W10 Edition of The MedTech AI Monitor
Hey there,
I've been heads-down working on something new, which is why you haven't seen a MAIM in your inbox in a few weeks. It is a bit too early to share what's next, but stay tuned for more...
With that being said- there were a few AI partnerships announced in February in the medical device space that may be game changers. Check it out below, and as always, I reply to all messages if you have comments/questions.
Have a great rest of your week!

1. Medtronic Partners With Brainomix On AI Stroke Tool
Medtronic has partnered with Brainomix to expand the adoption of its AI-powered stroke assessment tool, Brainomix 360 Stroke. This platform uses AI algorithms to analyze CT scans, detect acute ischemic strokes, and identify large vessel blockages, helping physicians make faster, more accurate treatment decisions. Medtronic will leverage its strong presence in Western Europe to support the rollout, aligning with its broader strategy of integrating AI into healthcare. Clinical studies have demonstrated the tool’s effectiveness, with increased referrals for mechanical thrombectomy: a procedure in which Medtronic already has a strong foothold through its Solitaire X device. This partnership follows Medtronic’s recent AI collaboration with Tempus, reinforcing its commitment to using AI for improving patient outcomes. [Link]
2. SimonMed Imaging Uses AI To Greatly Improve Full-Body MRIs
SimonMed Imaging has integrated AI into full-body MRIs to enhance accuracy, speed, and diagnostic efficiency. By leveraging AI-driven image reconstruction and analysis, scan times have been reduced by 30%-50%, improving patient comfort and increasing scanner availability. AI algorithms enhance image quality, detect subtle abnormalities, and assist radiologists in identifying potential health risks, reducing diagnostic errors. The technology streamlines workflow by integrating with SimonMed’s reporting systems, ensuring faster and more precise diagnoses. The initiative underscores AI’s role in modernizing medical imaging, improving patient outcomes, and positioning radiologists at the center of enhanced decision-making. [Link]
3. Lack Of AI Governance Poses Threat To Data Security, New HIMSS Research Shows
A new HIMSS report shows that while healthcare organizations are improving cybersecurity through increased budgets and better tools, a lack of AI governance remains a major risk. The survey found that many organizations lack formal approval processes for AI use, exposing them to threats like data breaches and AI-driven cyberattacks. Although investments in IT security have grown: rising from 10% in 2020 to 14% in 2024, funding remains insufficient to address evolving risks. Workforce challenges, including staff retention and upskilling, also persist. Experts stress the need for stronger AI policies, continuous monitoring, and better communication around cybersecurity priorities to protect patient data and healthcare systems. [Link]
